The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has devastated food security, leaving many families in dire need. Malnutrition is rampant, with children and pregnant women being the most affected. Many children have not tasted fruit since before the war, and meat or chicken is unaffordable for most. Families often survive on bread, olive oil, and za’atar if they are fortunate. The cost of flour, now approximately $100, further limits access to basic food staples.

The long queues for food distribution exacerbate the crisis, as many of the most vulnerable, including the elderly, young children, and pregnant women, cannot stand in line for hours, often leaving them to go hungry. Compounding the problem, much of the available food consists of canned goods, some of which are expired. This has led to a rise in gastrointestinal issues such as constipation, diarrhea, and other bowel-related complications.

The situation is worsened by poor sanitation in overcrowded camps, where multiple tents share a single toilet, and sewage management is nearly non-existent. This creates a breeding ground for disease and infestation, further endangering already vulnerable populations.

To address these challenges, our direct food distribution to camps has focused on providing essential nutrients to the elderly, pregnant women, and young children. This targeted approach aims to ensure the most vulnerable have access to sufficient and safe nutrition amidst the ongoing crisis
